I put this image in because of the perfect kiwi holiday, with the clear blue sky and blue jandals with the perfect red pohutakawa trees in the background. I find this painting really refreshing and it reminds me of old holidays and memories at the beach on a warm New Zealand day.

I put this work in because of the Kiwi artist Colin McCahon who always paints what he sees. Its always a New Zealand background and the paintings he does always reflect what he sees as New Zealand.  I really like this work because its interesting how he shows nelson as a place that changes in landscape everyday.

Its a very popular and iconic kiwi song that no kiwi could forget about.

I put this work in because of its humour on that Vegemite is probably one of New Zealands favourite foods. I think its quite a quirky image saying that the Vegemite is all high and mighty and is a well loved delicacy in New Zealand.

I put this image in because of the iconic kiwi figures on the tablecloth. I find the work interesting because  of the bright colours and it reminds you so well of New Zealand like the cow, bumblebee and pavlova all take you back to some kind of childhood memory. I like how they put all these symbolic images onto a tablecloth because it makes it seem more personal and its something you can keep forever.

Title of work: Beached Whale

Size: Object width= 425     Object height= 344

Materials, media: Video Camera, Cartoon Sketch

Function of the work: For people who enjoy kiwi comedy

Where the work is shown or displayed: Youtube, Galleries, In movies, On TV

I put this video in because its two Australians taking the mickey out of Kiwi accents and emphaizing our slang words. I think it is so funny and Kiwis love it because its so laid back like we are and its such a simple idea of a whale getting stuck on the sand his mate trying to figure out how to get him out.  I love the cartoons they are so simple but so effected.

I put this image in because of the kiwi bird and that it was photographed in Titirangi Beach, New Zealand (where I live). The flowers in the background are a weed that is a really pest in New Zealand at the moment. I also think that the image is quite beautiful but it also says about endangerment of species, where the weed is taking over the forests and bushes making the birds unable to live in them because the weed has eventually taken over.
